BACTISAN® CHIRURGICO2000 is an aqueous solution ready to use based benzalkonium chloride (quaternary ammonium salt) indicated for the disinfection of instruments, machinery and medical surgical devices not critical.

 

PROPERTY

Among all of the quaternary ammonium salts Benzalkonium chloride is the most active as regards the germicidal activity. The alkyl radicals bonded to the nitrogen are alkyl chains

linear to 12, 14 and 16 carbon atoms.

Being a cationic surfactant presents incompatibility with 'sodium hexametaphosphate, the

sodium metaphosphate and anionic surfactants.

 

BACTISAN® CHIRURGICO2000 is a clear pink color with slight odor and a neutral pH.

Such pH value enhances the bactericidal properties of the active substance which decreased significantly at acid pH. The chemical-physical characteristics of the product are summarized in

Table 1.

 

GERMICIDAL ACTIVITY

The scientific literature catalogs the aqueous solutions based on quaternary ammonium salts

as disinfectants suitable for the disinfection of articles not critical, that is of those articles and / or

surfaces in which the likelihood of transmission of infection is greatly reduced.

BACTISAN® CHIRURGICO2000 has a good biocidal activity, both against Gram-negative bacteria of Gram-positive, with greater effectiveness for the latter.

Presents, also, fungicidal and virucidal activity especially against enveloped viruses

lipoprotein and very sensitive to the action of disinfectants such as HIV, implicated agent

in the onset of AIDS.

The biocidal activity of BACTISAN® CHIRURGICO2000 has been tested on different strains of microorganisms such as Escherichia coli K12 343/113, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 P, Streptococcus faecalis ATCC 8043, Enterobacter cloacae, Candida albicans, Serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas

aeruginosa, Pseudomonas malthophilia, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus rettgeri, Klebsiella

pneumoniae, Salmonella abortus equi I.S.M. 72/12.

 

HOW TO USE

BACTISAN® CHIRURGICO2000 is a ready to use solution. To achieve good disinfection submerge or to bring the product into contact with medical devices for at least 5 minutes after removing any organic residue thoroughly, soap residue or cleaning agents.

It is also indicated for the aseptic preservation of the same after sterilization. for

remove tools from the solution must pick them aseptically. Excessive solution

disinfectant can be removed from medical devices, rinsing with sterile water or

drying with a cloth or sterile paper. The solution, once coming in contact with the devices

Doctors (tools or machines), can not be reused for subsequent disinfection.
